A Special Visitor

On Friday Riley Milton's dad Chris brought a special visitor into Room 3. It was their new German Shepherd puppy Ella! We were very excited to meet her. We sat in a circle and Ella walked around giving us a good sniff and a wee lick.

We thought she felt soft, cosy, like a cotton bud, or even like a sheep!

When Chris and Ella left we thought we might like to have a go at drawing Ella.

Thank you so much for bringing Ella to meet us Chris!

From Chrysalis to Butterfly

What an exciting day in Room 3 today!! When we arrived at school today we were very excited to see our Chrysalides had turned black. As we continued to watch over the day, we saw all 6 emerge. At the end of the day we released 4 outside and watched them fly away.

Thank you so much to Zion and Tania for bringing this amazing experience into our classroom.

Making Playdough

This morning we made playdough as a language experience for our writing. We split into smaller groups and took turns adding ingredients and mixing it up!

Alex thought the flour and salt looked like a snowy mountain.
We sniffed peppermint, strawberry, lemon and vanilla essences.
Kiani thought the peppermint smelled like his Mum's teeth!
We decided to use red food colouring. It looked like blood.
We added strawberry essence to make it smell delish.
 Lots and lots of mixing!

Once everything was mixed together we decided it needed some kneading. Zach knew we needed to stretch it, fold it and punch it.
Naturally the dough needed some karate chops too!
We started our writing this morning. Come in and check out out books over the week to see how we're getting on.

Story Workshops

Our Story Workshop stations this week produced some fantastic story writing! The children had fun working in small groups, or independently, to build a story using the open-ended materials.

Please come in and have a look at our writing books!

Smoothie Making!

This week we noticed the children of Room 3 were making smoothies on the story workshop stations. We decided to follow this interest and made some real smoothies on Friday morning.

We used this as a lead in to some great writing. Some of us thought the smoothies tasted delicious, nice and yummy. Others thought they were horrible, disgusting and gross!
